“The truth is rarely pure and never simple.”

Oscar Wilde

Welcome to the Confessional

Need to offload about the state of your project?

Want to retain anonymity and thus your job, clients, reputation and/or sanity?

We're all ears, or rather boxes - see below.

And remember, no mistake, miscalculation or misjudgement too big or too small to learn from.

How to Communicate Your Story

The stage is yours for you to write about whatever construction misadventure you want. You can write as much or as little as you like, about a project of whatever size you choose, and it can relate to any part of the project and/or any tier of the team hierarchy.

And if you have a story about a building that ended up 'useless when in use' then you can write about that too. For example, I once heard a story about an Olympic swimming pool that was too short after they had tiled it. Opps.

If
you are able to share any learnings on why it all went wrong then so much the better. But basically, there are no rules and you don't need to be Shakespeare either. I will even accept bullet pointed notes. Regardless, once your story is complete just copy and paste it into the Confessional below.

I will take your tale and edit it as I see fit. This will ensure the content is presented in a manner consistent with the (tongue in cheek; let's not get too visceral; we're not 8chan) tone of this site and more importantly, in a manner that prevents anyone getting sued.

If I am able to offer any useful insights, preferably supported by verifiable fact or credible research, I will do so. The same goes for the wider readership - if you have something constructive and credible to contribute then please feel free to go for it!

You feel better having shared your pain, we feel better knowing we're not alone, and the ignorant become the informed.

Everyone's (theoretically) a winner.

The Confessional

Leave a name, don't leave a name, make up a name! That's OK. This name will not be made public unless I am hacked by the Russians (joke).
Providing me your email is completely up to you. If I have your email I might check in with you if I'd like to clarify anything. But your choice.
What country/construction industry is your story associated with? Useful to gauge local trends, if any.
